At a time, it seems like Xiaomi has abandoned the Redmi Note 8 units. The device has gone for months without receiving even a security patch update. Unlike the global version, the Chinese model has been getting updates, currently running the Enhanced Edition of MIUI 12.5. We expected the same for the global users, and according to recent reports, the global Redmi Note 8 MIUI 12.5 Enhanced update has been released.
The Redmi Note 8 becomes the latest Xiaomi phone to start getting the Enhanced Edition of MIUi 12.5. It has a version number – MIUI 12.5.1.0 RCOMIXM – and that confirms our earlier post about that update arriving soon. However, it’s a limited rollout at the moment, meaning only a few users will receive the update for preview. The public rollout is subject to the outcome, but we are optimistic it will start seeding in the coming days.
As expected, the global Redmi Note 8 MIUI 12.5 Enhanced update comes with all the expected features. They include Atomized Memory, Liquid Storage, Focused Algorithm, and Smart Balance. Of course, Memory Extension is part of the package, while the Android security patch level has been bumped to October 2021.
Again, the update is a limited release, exclusively to the Mi Pilots. That means that downloading the ROM for manual installation might not work at the moment. Perhaps, you can opt for that if you have an authorized Mi beta account, or you should wait for the OTA to arrive in the coming days.
