Google Pay not working on the Xiaomi 13 / Pro

Only a few Xiaomi phones are currently running Android 14-based MIUI 14 update. The Chinese company released the build to limited users after the official release by Google. As always, these users received a “stable beta” build, which isn’t stable enough as a daily driver. And for security reasons, Google Pay doesn’t seem to work on these phones running Android 14 beta.

Google Pay not working on the Xiaomi 13 Pro

When Google released the Android 14 QPR1 beta update, users were not able to use Google Wallet to make payments. Trying to initiate a payment using Google Wallet pops up an error message, “Device doesn’t meet security requirements.” Perhaps, that’s the same problem those who installed the latest Android 14-based MIUI 14 update are facing on their Xiaomi 13 / Pro.

The Google Pay not working issue affects Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro running MIUI 14.0.5.0 UMCEUXM and MIUI 14.0.2.0 UMBMIXM. It seems to affect those devices in Europe and Global models, but the update is exclusive to those regions. According to Xiaomi, they’re working on a fix and will release it soon.

While the company didn’t say what’s causing the issue, it’s definitely because of the stable beta build. The latest update doesn’t meet Google’s security requirements to run Google Pay, hence, Xiaomi needs to improve the security level with its next update. We expect a new stable update to arrive soon and hopefully resolve the issue.

How to resolve Google Pay not working on Xiaomi 13/Pro

There’s currently no official fix for the Google Pay not working issue. Since it’s based on security reasons, we don’t think there’s much you can do to resolve that rather than waiting for a new update from Xiaomi. The company has acknowledged the issue and is working to resolve it. We expect a new update with a fix to start seeding soon.
