If you have an iPhone, you’ve probably noticed that Safari’s default search engine is Google. However, Safari does not limit you to Google. If you want, you can use other search engines such as Bing, Yahoo, or DuckDuckGo.

While most current search engines can locate the websites you seek, there are often things to consider while making your decision. Google is the dominant player here, but depending on your privacy preferences, you might want to go with something else.

For instance, DuckDuckGo, promotes itself as a more private search engine, whereas Bing is linked to Microsoft Rewards. It’s easy to make the change in Safari on your iPhone if you know where to search. In this guide, we will teach you how to change the default search engine on Safari for iOS devices. So, without much further fuss, let’s get started.

How to Change the Default Search Engine on Safari for iOS

  • To begin, go to your iOS device’s Home screen and open the Settings app.
  • After that, scroll down and select Safari.
  • Next to the Search Engine entry is a list of the current default search engine. To make a change, tap Search Engine.
  • Choose one of four distinct search engines: Google, Yahoo, Bing, and DuckDuckGo are some of the most popular search engines you’ll find.
  • To return to Safari’s settings, tap Safari in the top left corner of the Search Engine screen.
  • Next to the Search Engine entry, the name of the search engine you selected will show.

That’s all you need to know on how to change Safari’s default search engine on iOS devices. Unfortunately, the browsers listed above are the only options available. Apple does not allow you to set a different search engine as your default.

However, in Safari, you may still go to such search engines and search from their websites, but that’s it. In other words, the only way you’ll get more options here is if Apple includes them in a future iOS update.
