How to create Alexa Routines

Alexa is usually a go-to smart speaker when trying to get tons of tasks done and it works with a wide range of Amazon Echo devices. However, having Alexa attend to your commands quickly can be a very challenging task to achieve especially when you’re in a hurry somewhere and you need to get a lot of things done. That is where the Alexa Routines come in. This article will be directing you on how to create Alexa Routines to help with your everyday tasks.

Ever wondered how you can have Alexa carry out multiple tasks with just one voice command, that’s what you will get when you create Alexa Routines. For instance, you can say “Alexa get me started for the day” and then you get regular completion of tasks once you’re awake.

To create Alexa Routines you can access the Featured Routines via the Amazon Alexa app. This is available on both Android and iOS devices and probably on your device if you have an Amazon Echo device.

How do you find Routines on the Amazon Alexa app?

Having opened the app, click on the More icon from the menu located at the bottom. Search for Routines and click on it, afterwards, pick a Feature section and choose from already recommended Alexa Routines.

After that, you’ll see a list of tasks that will be triggered with that routine, then click on Enable at the top right corner of your screen and that routine will move to the Your Routines section. This means that Alexa will carry out a series of actions for that routine once you give her a command.

An interesting tweak about Alexa Routines is that you can create a customized version where you insert the actions you want to be triggered by a particular routine. Simply head to the More icon at the bottom of the app, and then head to Routines and click on the Plus icon at the top right corner of your screen to create a customized routine.

You can do a lot of things in the customized section and even preview if Alexa does what you say it should do. You can add actions like controlling your TV, switching off the air conditioner, and reading the weather report, among others.

Do you know what’s more? You can also share your Routines with your friends by moving over to Your Routines and then clicking the three-dot icon at the top right corner where you will see the Share routine. Afterward, you can copy your routine link and send it to friends, however, we advise you not to send those with private information for security reasons.
