Your Google Pixel can tell if you’ve been in an accident by using its location, motion sensors, and ambient sounds. If that’s the case, it can sound an alarm to make sure you’re okay and, if required, call 911. It’s a feature that you should switch on if you haven’t already. So in this guide, we are going to take a look at how to enable car crash detection on Google Pixel phones. Thus, without much further ado, let’s get started.

How to Enable Car Crash Detection on Google Pixel Phones

Here is how to enable car crash detection on a Google Pixel phones

To enable car crash detection on Google Pixle phones, the ‘Personal Safety’ app will be used. Luckily, it comes pre-installed on your Pixel phones. However, if you’ve managed to delete the app, you would want to download it back for this tutorial. And if the app is still intact, below is how to enable car crash detection on Google Pixel phones

  • Locate and launch the Personal Safety app on your Pixel phone
  • Tap the gear symbol in the upper-left corner.
  • Select Car crash detection from the menu.
  • Turn it on by tapping the toggle (if the banner is blue, it’s already on).
  • You can see how car crash detection works by tapping Try a demo at the bottom of that page.
  • The Pixel vibrates and emits an alarm when a crash is detected. The Assistant then speaks to you, advising you that if you want 911 to be called, you should then say “Emergency.” Meanwhile, if everything is in order, you can just say “Cancel.”
  • You can indicate whether you were in a minor accident or didn’t have one at all by saying “Cancel” or tapping the “I’m OK” button on your screen. By doing so, you can help Google improve its detection systems so that they are more accurate in the future.
  • Meanwhile, if you do need to call 911, you will be able to see your exact location on the Pixel’s display, allowing you to tell the operator where you are. I hope you never need to use automobile crash detection on your Pixel, but if you do, it’s comforting to know there are safeguards in place to keep you safe.
