Owing to the promise made to Android One users, Xiaomi is now sending out the January security for Mi A2 Lite. The device is on its last days of security support after it has received two OS upgrades: Android 9 and 10, which is maximum for Android one devices. It will continue to receive security patch updates for the next few months, and you can check when the support ends for the device here.
The January security patch for Mi A2 Lite seems to be limited to Global users. It has a version number – V11.0.17.0 QDLMIXM – and weighs in at about 16.51MB. The update bumps the security patch level to January 2021, improved system security and stability, and fixed some minor bugs. It is currently arriving for everyone, and you should receive a notification for a new update in the coming hours or days. We have also added a link below this post, and you can access the ROM via the links.
Meanwhile, it’s unclear if the current update has fixed any of the previous bugs, but the update isn’t bricking phones. Since the Mi A3 Android 11 update left many phones dead, users of Xiaomi Android One phones are now skeptical about installing updates without feedback. However, the new update for the Mi A2 Lite isn’t bricking phones, and you should install it when prompted. And if you have installed the update, let us know via the comment section if any of the previously reported bugs have been fixed.
