Xiaomi isn’t only gaining ground in making and marketing smartphones, the Chinese OEM is also very much active in the software side. All Xiaomi phones except the A-series run MIUI on top of Android, which recently received its highest revamp yet. And although the company recently released the MIUI 12 and is said to be working on the next one, they haven’t stopped improving the current version of MIUI.
The latest addition to the many features that debuted alongside the MIUI 12 is a new power menu. Before this recent update, this particular power menu button already surfaced on the internet. However, it was seen as one of the features that will debut with the MIUI 13, but Xiaomi was quick to debunk the rumors, saying it wasn’t a MIUI 13 feature.
Well, we now know why they were quick to debunk that rumor. The new power menu is now arriving for the Chinese users, currently participating in the MIUI 12 closed beta testing. It’s coming with the MIUI 12 China beta 20.11.17 and will arrive via OTA on all eligible units.
However, while all Xiaomi phones participating in the MIUI 12 closed beta testing is going to receive the v20.11.17 build, not all of them will receive the new power menu. Only those on the latest Android 11 operating system are eligible.
How the new power menu works
Going by the short video posted on Xiaomiui, when you press and hold the power button, instead of taping on the options, you either drag the toggle up to switch off the device or down to reboot.

For now, it’s still unclear when the new power menu will start arriving for stable ROM users and if at all it will make it global ROM. However, we believe that in the future, Xiaomi will find it right to roll out the feature to the global stable ROM users. That said, we’ll be keeping an eye on the development and will report back here when it becomes available for Stable ROM users.
