Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G starts getting a new update ahead of the alleged MIUI 12 release

Xiaomi started upgrading the Mi Mix 3 to MIUI 12 a few days ago in China, while the 5G variant was hoping for a security patch update. The company, through its UK Customer support, promised an update in June, and MIUI 12 in October. Unfortunately, the security patch update for Mi Mix 3 5G didn’t arrive at that time, but that can’t be said now as a new update starts arriving for the device.

The update is MIUI 10 based on Android 9, which is rather disappointing. Even the most affordable Xiaomi phone is currently running, at least, MIUI 11 based on Android 10, while the Mix 3 5G, which cost over 500 bucks is yet to receive even the MIUI 11 build.

Even the security patch update for Mi Mix 3 5G that has been released is for Vodafone models in Europe. It’s a 496MB package with a software version, MIUI 10.3.26.0 PEMEUVF. The free-sim models are said to have the same development, and hence, will also start getting the update in a few hours.

It has also been alleged that Xiaomi has internally compiled the MIUI 12 update for the Mi Mix 3 5G. The update, unfortunately, will be based on Android 9 and is expected to start rolling out in October. There’s no news if beta testing will be organized for the update, only developers may have access to this build.
