Xiaomi released the Mi 8 in early 2018, running Android 8.1 Oreo, which was the latest Android OS as of then. It has received two OS upgrades: Android 9 and Android 10, and is possible that’s where the journey ended, as regards OS upgrades. But of course, the device will receive the latest MIUI 12 Android skin, and as always, will introduce some of the Android 11 features.
While we wait for the MIUI 12 stable update to start rolling out, the latest Xiaomi Mi 8 global stable update has just gone live. The update has a version number, MIUI 11.0.4.0 QEARUXM, and is currently arriving via the Updater app. From the version number, the update is aimed at Russian users. It bumps the Android security patch level, improved system security, fixes bugs, and optimizes system performance.

As for when the stable MIUI 12 will start arriving for the device, it’s still unclear as the official roadmap for the second wave didn’t include a particular time frame. However, it’s expected that towards the tail of this month that the stable version of the update will start for devices on the second wave, which will see the Mi 8 receive stable MIUI 12 ROM.

To flash the ROM, first, download from the link above the recovery file and move it to your device memory.
