The Snapdragon 636 SoC is few of those mid-range chip we didn’t see much on a smartphone. It first featured in Redmi Note 5 Pro, which debuted in January last year, followed by Asus Zenfone 5 and Zenfone Max Pro M1.
The SD 636 SoC is built on 14nm process with a clock speed of 1.8GHz while implementing Kryo 260 Cores. It comes with Snapdragon X12 LTE modem with a peak download speed of 600Mbps and uses 802.11ac Wi-Fi with MU-MIMO.
Most Snapdragon 636 phones support Quick Charge 4 technology, which according to Qualcomm is 20% faster, 30% more efficient than previous generations. Most Snapdragon 636 phones in 2019, however, will get to charge from 0 – 50% in 15minutes.
Behind the camera performance is Qualcomm Spectra 160 camera ISP. It can support single 24MP camera and can go dual 16MP cameras. The Adreno 509 GPU ensures better graphics and enhanced gaming experience by delivering life-like visual and 3D graphics.

Beating all other smartphone companies to launch a Snapdragon 636 phone in 2019 is HMD Global. The device which is dubbed Nokia 6.2 is an entry-level phone with 6.3-inch FHD+ display. It features HDR 10 PureDisplay, 500nits brightness, 96% NTSC color gamut, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
The SD 636 SoC is paired with up to 4GB of RAM with an expandable 64GB internal storage up to 512GB. Outside the box, the device will run Android Pie, upgradeable to Android 10. The battery capacity stays at 3500mAh and will charge through a Type-C USB port.
At the back is a 16MP camera, accompanied by an 8MP 118° ultra-wide-angle lens, and 5MP depth sensor, while on the front notch is an 8MP snapper with ZEISS Optics.
Other features of the Nokia 6.2 includes Dual 4G Volte, 3.5mm headphone jack, dedicated Google Assistant button, LED Notification light, FM radio, and NFC.
