How to start using MTN SME data share

Available on MTN data share is three subscriptions. They include N5,500 for 10GB, N11,000 for 20GB, and N25,000 for 50GB. All subscription plans have ten maximum share with a validity period of 30 days, 30 days, and 60 days respectively.

To subscribe to any of the above-listed data plans, you should first migrate to MTN SME plus service. To migrate, dial *460# or text 460 to 131.

As said earlier, you only share ten times as a sponsor but can share multiple times to a single beneficiary as long as he doesn’t exceed his limits. Again, the beneficiary can not receive data from different sponsors. Also, the data validity period remains the same as the originating source.

The allowed data size on MTN SME data share ranges from 200MB, 500MB, 1GB, 2GB, and 5GB. You can top up via VTU, recharge card, Cheque, or Quickteller.

Steps for MTN SME data share

  • Sharing data on MTN SME is done by either USSD code or SMS.
  • To get started via SMS, simply send SMEA + beneficiary phone number + Amount + PIN to 131.
  • And when sharing data, ensure to share only the allowed data size.
  • The picture below clarifies the process.
  • To share via USSD, dial *461# and follow the screen prompt.

And to check data balance, SMS DATA BALANCE to 131 if you’re the sponsor, and SHAREBALANCE to 131 if you’re the beneficiary. Both the sponsor and beneficiary can dial *461# to know their data balance.
