Whether the Redmi Note 8T will receive Android 11 remains to be seen, as there’s a doubt about that happening. Xiaomi only announced it’ll be treating the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro to Android 11, which qualifies the Redmi Note 8T for the update. The latter is essentially the same phone as the vanilla Note 8, but with few tweaks and is only available in selected markets. Meanwhile, there’s a difference in their development, which is the reason the Note 8T software updates have a different designation – QCXMIXM. Hopefully, Xiaomi will release Android 11 for the device, but first, you should install the new Redmi Note 8T stable update.
The new Redmi Note 8T stable update sans the Android 11 update. It’s only a security patch build that bumps the Android security level to March 2021 to improve system security and performance. The update also fixed some minor bugs while fortifying the device ahead of MIUI 12.5 upgrade, hopefully. But as usual, only a few selected users will receive the update pending the beta preview outcome. And if everything goes smooth, the update will start rolling publicly in the coming days.
You’ll receive the update as MIUI 12.0.3.0 QCXMIXM in a 688MB package. There’s an option for manual installation using the recovery ROM below. However, most times, flashing the build returns an error due to lack of an authorized Mi Beta account, but with TWRP Recovery installed, you will bypass the server restrictions. Otherwise, you should wait for the OTA to appear on your phone, and hopefully, you’ll receive the update in the coming days.
