Xiaomi, for some reason, is yet to start seeding MIUI 12.5 to the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9S. The duo bagged Android 11 a couple of months ago and should have received the current iteration of MIUI. Perhaps, the build is still under testing, and to fortify the phones ahead of MIUI 12.5 upgrade, a new update starts rolling out. It is a global release, currently hitting the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9S. And as usual, only select users will receive the update pending the outcome of the preview, which might see the public rollout commence.
There’s no doubt about the eligibility of the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9S for the MIUI 12.5 update. The duo is even eligible for MIUI 13, and hopefully, they’ll receive Android 12. However, due to some problems, perhaps, the MIUI 12.5 rollout is yet to commence. Instead, Xiaomi is rolling out a new update to the duo to increase system security, having pushed the Android security patch level to July 2021.
The package weighs about 600MB while carrying a software version number – MIUI 12.0.4.0 RJZMIXM – for the Redmi Note 9 Pro. It is seeding for the Redmi Note 9S as MIUI 12.0.4.0 RJWMIXM. Both are for the global models, and we anticipate a wider rollout in the next coming days. Also, this is probably the latest MIUI 12 based update for the device, and as such, we recommend you download for a seamless transition to MIUI 12.5. It seems like the global Redmi Note 9 Pro has been delayed due to a bug. However, we expect the build to start rolling out soon.
