Xiaomi is now sending out a new update for Redmi 8A and Redmi 7A. It’s, however, not the update many of the device users have been anticipating. It’s a stable MIUI 11 based Android 10 security patch update, meaning the wait for the current MIUI Android skin continues.
The new update for Redmi 8A and Redmi 7A is hitting eligible users in Russia, Global, and Europe. On the Redmi 8A, it bumps the security patch level to December 2020 and improved system security. The Redmi 7A, which is also receiving a new update in EU and Russian, has its security patch level pushed to December 2020. The duo becomes the first Xiaomi phone to receive the latest patch update but somehow remains short of MIUI 12.
Nevertheless, we expect the update to start rolling out soon as the company will look to finalize the rollout before MIUI 12.5 gets underway. Yesterday, the Redmi 8 started picking up the MIUI 12 update for the first time, and we expect the same for all Xiaomi devices eligible for MIUI 12. And yes, both Redmi 8A and Redmi 7A will receive the update.
