The last time an update for Redmi Note 9 Pro rolled out was in November 2020. It was the Android 11 build, which arrived for limited users and is yet to arrive publicly. Those in India received the update, and two months on, Xiaomi hasn’t released the update in other regions. They’re still testing the build, which is probably why a new update hasn’t arrived for the device users since then.
Meanwhile, according to a moderator in the Mi community forum, the delay is due to the ongoing tests. The Redmi Note 9 Pro is currently testing Android 11, and with the MIUI 12.5 now under closed beta test, a new update for Redmi Note 9 Pro might not arrive until the tests are completed.
It’s been months now since Xiaomi started testing Android 11 publicly for the Redmi Note 9 Pro, and we might see the update arrive for more people very soon. As for the MIUI 12.5 update, Xiaomi hasn’t released a rollout plan for the global users. But going by the Chinese rollout plans, the stable version of the MIUI 12.5 update will be ready in April, which is probably when the Global version will start seeding.
We expect the Redmi Note 9 Pro and other Xiaomi phones running the global ROM to receive the MIUI 12.5 update from April. However, it won’t be that long till a new update for Redmi Note 9 Pro will be made available. Stable updates are released every three months or so, and going by that, we expect a new update to start arriving for Note 9 Pro users very soon.
It’s still unclear, for now, if the next update for the device will see a wider rollout of the Android 11 update or another Android 10 build. However, we’re likely to see the former arrive for more users as it has been under testing for some time now.
