Xiaomi is currently sending out a new update for the Mi 9, Mi 9T, and Mi 9T Pro. The update is supposed to fortify the device ahead of the MIUI 12.5 and Android 11 upgrades. Meanwhile, the first Android 11 build for the Mi 9 and Mi 9T Pro ( Redmi K20 Pro) has been released in China. The update is based on MIUI 12.5, and it looks like the duo will receive a new Android OS alongside the MIUI 12.5 update.

New update for the Mi 9, Mi 9T, and Mi 9T Pro

It is necessary that you download the new update for the Mi 9, Mi 9T, and Mi 9T Pro to get your device ready for the upgrade. On the Mi 9, the update is hitting eligible units with a version number MIUI 12.0.4.0 QFAMIXM and weighs in at 503MB. The Mi 9T users are receiving a MIUI 12.0.4.0 QFJEUXM package, while the Mi 9T Pro update has a build number – MIUI 12.0.4.0 QFKMIXM.

And while the update bumps the Android security level of the three phones to January 2021, it’s doing that in different regions. The Mi 9 and Mi 9T Pro update is for the global ROM users, while the Mi 9T build is live in Europe. Of course, we expect a wider rollout in the coming days, which will see the update get to more people and regions.

Update: September 16, 2021

Xiaomi is now upgrading the Mi 9T in Europe to Android 11. Unfortunately, it sans the much-anticipated MIUI 12.5, meaning the build will arrive much later. You can check for the stable MIUI 12.1.1.0 RFJEUXM here.

The Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro is now receiving a new stable update Globally. It brings the July 2021 security patch to increase system security and stability while addressing bug. The update carries a software version number – MIUI 12.5.2.0 RFKMIXM – and you can download it here: Recovery

The Mi 9T is still not upgrading to MIUI 12.5. Xiaomi is currently pushing a new Android 11-based MIUI 12 update to the global units. It has a version number – MIUI 12.1.4.0 RFJMIXM – and weighs in at 2.4GB. Download here.

The latest Xiaomi phone to start receiving a stable Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 update is the Mi 9. It’s European variants that are receiving a MIUI 12.5.1.0 RFAEUXM build, which has upgraded the Android version to 11. Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro in Europe is now receiving the MIUI 12.5 update. As usual, the update is available for select users for bug preview, after which it will start seeding for the public. It’s seeding with a version number – MIUI 12.5.1.0 RFKEUXM – and you can download here. The update has increased system security by pushing the Android security patch level to June 2021.

It seems Xiaomi has suspended the Android 11 rollout to the Redmi K20 / Mi 9T globally. The company is currently seeding a stable MIUI 12.0.9.0 QFJMIXM based Android 11 update. The Mi 9 and Mi 9T Pro are the latest Xiaomi phones to start receiving a stable Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 update. It’s arriving as MIUI 12.5.1.0 RFAMIXM and MIUI 12.5.1.0 RFKMIXM, respectively. Xiaomi has now released a stable Android 11 update for the Redmi K20 / Mi 9T units in India. The update has a version number – MIUI 12.1.2.0 RFJINXM – and is currently available for select users. According to reports, the update adds an option to restore Widevine L1. Check the full post here

The wait is over for Android 11 as Xiaomi starts pushing the update to global models. It’s still unclear when the company will extend the rollout to other regions. For now, only the stable MIUI 12.1.2.0 RFJMIXM has been released and you can download the recovery ROM here.
