Xiaomi plans to start pushing the stable version of its latest MIUI by April this year. To make sure no bugs are found on the build when it starts rolling out, they’re currently organizing a closed beta program in China. Luckily, the Redmi Note 7 is among the devices that’ll receive the update. It’s also participating in the closed beta test and has received its first MIUI 12.5 beta update in that region.
However, the stable ROM users will wait till April or longer before the update would appear on their phone. And while the wait is on, a new update for the Redmi Note 7 is currently seeding. The update is hitting eligible units with a version number, MIUI 12.0.3.0 QFGCNXM, and will arrive via OTA. It’s for the Chinese models, but we expect a wider rollout to commence in the coming days.
If you’re running the Chinese ROM, you can check for the new Redmi Note 7 update via the updater app. We also have a link below this post for you to access the ROM and flash via the recovery method. Meanwhile, it might return an error trying to flash the ROM, and that’s because only a few users are expected to have access to it. In that situation, you should either try again after some days or wait for the OTA.
As for MIUI 12.5 coming alongside a new Android version for the phone, Xiaomi doesn’t have any plans for that. The company will only upgrade the Note 8-series to Android 11. Nevertheless, you’d get some features of the new Android version with the MIUI 12.5 update.
