Xiaomi Pad series currently runs Android 11 based on MIUI 13, ten months after its official release. The device was among the first to receive the current iteration of MIUI that delivered Android 12 to a handful of eligible users. Unlike the Pad 5, perhaps Xiaomi wants to utilize the Android 12L and is currently testing the build for its Tablets. The upgrade might start seeding soon as a new Xiaomi Pad 5 update is currently rolling out in multiple regions.
After releasing MIUI 13 to the Pad 5 Tablets, Xiaomi started testing Android 12 for the units but canceled it after Google announced Android 12L for big display devices. We expect the upcoming Android 12 for Xiaomi Pad 5 to be based on 12L OS. The upgrade could arrive in the coming weeks as testing is restarted.
Perhaps for a seamless transition to Android 12, Xiaomi decided to release a new update to its Pad 5 series devices. The update is available in India, Europe, and Global. It comes with version numbers MIUI 13.0.5.0 RKXINXM, MIUI 13.0.3.0 RKXMIXM, and MIUI 13.0.5.0 RKXEUXM, respectively.
Aside from bumping the Android security patch to May 2022 to increase system security and stability, the update fortifies the device ahead of the Android 12 upgrade. Also, there have been performance improvements and bug fixes, including the wallpaper rotation issues. If you’re running any of these ROMs, you can check for a new update via the updater app or use the link below.
