Official MIUI 12.5 poster released ahead of tomorrow’s unveiling

Xiaomi will be having an event in China tomorrow to unveil its next flagship device – Mi 11. According to leaks, the device will feature a Super AMOLED display with 1440p resolution. It has a triple camera set-up at the back: 108MP + 13MP + 5MP and will support OIS. There’s a 4500mAh battery for power with support for 55W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, while the device is likely to run MIUI 12.5 on top of Android 11 outside-of-the-box.

The Chinese OEM will officially present the MIUI 12.5 tomorrow, and it makes sense the Mi 11 series comes running the new interface. Well, that’s unlikely given that the company is yet to start the official MIUI 12.5 beta test, and it won’t be right to pre-install a ROM that hasn’t been tested on the flagship device. However, just like when the MIUI 12 was announced a couple of months ago, we expect the closed beta testing, which is currently suspended, to restart immediately after the unveiling.

Early reports alleged that the official MIUI 12.5 testing isn’t starting until early weeks in January. Also, stable ROM users might wait till late February or early March before the update starts hitting their phones. And although that might be true, we’ll confirm the roadmap after the official unveiling tomorrow. We are also going to learn the features of the new interface and eligible devices for the update.

Looking at the official MIUI 12.5 poster, there’s no difference from that of MIUI 12, and hence, we don’t expect a massive overhauling. According to the Xiaomi executive, the update will focus on system optimization and stability; something MIUI 12 users have been complaining about. Also, we expect to see other features, of which some have arrived for closed beta testers. You can check for the supposed MIUI 12.5 features here.
