Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro wireless charging issues

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are Google’s most sophisticated Android devices. It comes with top-of-the-line features found on premium phones in the market presently. On top of that, it has a clean stock Android UI, but that hasn’t stopped some issues from being reported by the device users.

Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro wireless charging issues

Since its official launch, Google Pixel 7 series phone users have reported a handful of bugs, some of which the company has addressed with a software update. They’re yet to resolve the scrolling performance issue, while the dead spots are another issue we hope they fix. Perhaps, they might be looking to address the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro wireless charging issues, as well.

Owners of the device have taken to Reddit to report an issue with their device’s wireless charging. According to the reports, the device would charge for seconds and then disconnect. The cycle continues, which is frustrating.

Of course, the Pixel 7 series supports Qi Wireless charging, and in the current situation, one might have to check the charger. While it’s necessary to use a Google Certified Wireless charging pad, it seems the Pixel 7 Pro wireless charging issues aren’t entirely on the charging pad.

Many people who experienced the issue seem to find a way around it, which could mean the charging pad isn’t the problem. Meanwhile, you must get a newer Qi Wireless charging pad as older ones use the Qualcomm Protocol, which isn’t compatible with the Tensor chip.

How to fix Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro wireless charging issue

We understand the issue also affects Pixel 6 users, luckily the workaround below seems to work for all phones;

  • To resolve the issue, you can try rebooting your device to safe mode.
  • On safe mode, charge the device till the phone charges
  • Reboot the device, to exit safe mode, and your wireless charging should be working fine

Alternatively, you should clear the Pixel Stand app cache and data. Go to settings>>apps>>all apps. Search for stand and clear the cache and data, then reboot.

  • Turns out adaptive charging was the issue for me. If you could, please mention this in your post. It might help alot of people.

    I turned off adaptive charging and it worked like a charm. Didn’t have to boot into safe mode or use the original cable (didnt come with the brick and i dont have any bricks that have a female usb c slot).

    Adaptive charging studies your usage habits, and it will only charge above about 75% or 80% when it knows you’re not using it, ie. Overnight typically. Mine doesnt want to finish charging that last 20% until about 8am.
