In 2018, the Poco F1 was launched, and according to POCO, the phone has sold over 1.64M units. Early this year, after almost 24 months, the company introduced the POCO X2 sensitizing the fans of what’s coming. Today, the successor of the POCO F1 – POCO F2 Pro is official, and from the specs, it will compete favorably with current flagship phones.
The POCO F2 Pro champions the basic cause of a smartphone – performance, design, and camera. From the AnTuTu score released during the unveiling, it shows a benchmark score of 589,983, and that’s above that of OnePlus 8 Pro (575, 213) and Samsung Galaxy S20+ (526,273).
Behind the performance is the highest performing Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC with a power-efficient core clocked at up to 2.84Ghz. It’s paired with fast 8GB LDDPR5 RAM and UFS3.1 storage. To ensure high-speed operation, fluent multitasking, and seamless gaming, POCO F2 Pro is equipped with Liquid cooling 2.0. Also, there’s an NTC sensor placed strategically to monitor heat and additional three heat dissipation components.
To enhance the experience, even more, POCO F2 Pro uses an AMOLED display. The 92.5% body-to-screen ratio panel measures 6.67-inch, and has a resolution of 1080p. It supports 5,000,000:1 high contrast ratio, 800nits of high brightness and can reach maximum 1200nit brightness. Interestingly, it is a full view display with the selfie snapper mounted on a mechanical pop-up to leave a fully immersive experience.
With the screen having support for HDR 10, the device will ship with a Widevine L1 certificate. As such, you will be able to stream videos in HD on multiple streaming channels such as YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime videos, and lots of others.
Aside from the screen, the camera also follows the current trends of smartphones. It has a Quad arrangement of primary 64MP Sony IMX 686 sensor that uses pixel binning to output 16MP shots using 1.6um pixels. Completing the setup is a 13MP ultra-wide angle lens, 5MP tele macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. The fifth camera is the 20MP selfie snapper mounted on a motorized pop-up.
With all these upgrades from the predecessor, power demand is higher, which is why the battery capacity has increased to 4700mAh. It supports 33W faster charging as well and will deliver fully charged POCO F2 Pro in 57 minutes.
Outside-of-the-box, the device runs Android 10 based on MIUI 11. The POCO launcher 2.0 ships with the package and an improved app drawer to organize all your apps in one place. There’s also an automatic group app feature, and of course, the Dark mode features are there as well.
