Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 makes use of the new Kryo 585 architecture and promises a 25% faster CPU performance compared to its predecessor. There’s a single power core, clocking at 2.84Ghz, 3x performance core clocked at 2.4GHz, and 4x Kryo 385 efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz.

The Adreno 650 GPU promises a 35% improved performance. Apart from delivering lifelike details, it will support a 144Hz display refresh rate. However, rumors have it that the next Samsung flagship, Galaxy S11, will feature up to 120Hz.

Another commendable feature of the new Adreno 650, is driver update. The GPU will receive updates just like in gaming PC, and updates are to be delivered through the app store. Meanwhile, that will depend on OEMs, because as in the case of OS updates, they always arrive late.

Nevertheless, Snapdragon 865 phones will support up to the 200MP module, thanks to Qualcomm Spectra 480 ISP. It will also support dual 64MP shooter or dual 25MP lens. Other features include 4k video @120fps, 8K @ 30fps, and 960fps slo-mo videos.

It might interest you to know that the Qualcomm X55 modem is a different chip that will be paired with the Snapdragon 865. The chips will deliver both 4G and 5G internet connectivity. According to the company, the X55 modem will achieve a maximum download speed of 7.5Gbps and 2.5Gbps. On 4G, the maximum upload will reach 316Mbps and 3Gbps downlink.
