The chip’s launch date is expected to coincide with the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit 2023 event. This event will serve as the platform for the official launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and Qualcomm has already come up with a catchy phrase for the event: “Catch the next wave of mind-blowing innovation.”

Exciting developments are anticipated at the event, which is scheduled to take place in Maui, Hawaii, from October 24 to 26, 2023.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor is the highlight of the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit 2023 event. It will be Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship chipset, known as SM8650. Although the chipset is currently under development and not yet officially announced, there is already a considerable amount of information available about its features and capabilities.

Details of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

According to reports, the chip will include 1+5+2= 8 cores, including 1x Cortex-X4 prime core, 5x Cortex-A720 cores, and 2x Cortex-A510 cores. The chipset will contain an Adreno 750 GPU and a 10MB L3 cache, and it will be manufactured on the TSMC N4P 4nm process.

Furthermore, according to a Weibo leak, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 scores 2,723 and 7,525 on Geekbench 6’s single and multi-core tests, respectively. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 receives 1,712,271 points in AnTuTu V9. In a second run, it performs noticeably better (2,723/7,525). For reference, another leak said that the Apple A17 Bionic scored 3,019 and 7,860 in the same test.

The Snapdragon X75 modem, Qualcomm’s newest 5G modem, will also be included with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. According to Qualcomm, the X75 is the world’s first 5G Advanced-ready modem-RF system.

Its transceiver can handle mmWave and sub-6 band 5G simultaneously, preparing it for the expansion of 5G networks that utilise both frequencies. The X75 is also said to have 2.5x quicker Al processing than the X70, as well as dual SIM dual active technology that allows for two simultaneous 5G data connections. Well, that’s all we know for now – that is, till the event goes down and we see the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in all its glory.
