We anticipate a busy week with the MIUI 12.5 deployment as the company set sight on MIUI 13. The next iteration of MIUI will arrive in August, and as such, eligible phones for the current build are expected to bag the update in th coming days. As anticipated, Xiaomi has released the Redmi Note 10X 4G / Redmi Note 9 MIUI 12.5 update in China. The duo is essentially the same phone but with different names depending on the region. In China, it’s sold as Redmi Note 10X 4G and answers Redmi Note 9 on the global market. And with the former now receiving the much anticipated MIUI 12.5 update, the latter will start pushing the build soon.
Naturally, it takes two weeks after the Chinese rollout for the build to arrive on global models. With that, we expect the Redmi Note 9 MIUI 12.5 update to start seeding in the coming days. Meanwhile, the update is seeding in China as MIUI 12.5.2.0 RJOCNXM. It brings the features of the new MIUI OS to improve performance, and address some of the bugs introduced by MIUI 12. The update has reduced power consumption and background memory usage while improving response to gestures. Animation has been improved, New system sounds and Super wallpapers introduced, while it is now possible to uninstall system apps.
However, the third-party launcher compatibility problem and square chat bubbles are still there. Also, after upgrading, Google Play Services stop working, and there’s currently little you can do about it. Nevertheless, you can check this post and see if that fixes the issue for you. Otherwise, you will have to flash the global ROM to enjoy Google Play services.
