Surprisingly, both Android 11 and MIUI 12.5 rollout have been slow in India. Perhaps, developers assigned to that region are taking time to preview each build before rolling it out. That seems to be the case, which of course, might be the reason why the Redmi 9 Prime Android 11 has just been released. The global models – Redmi 9, already received both Android 11 and MIUI 12.5 weeks ago, but separately. However, those in India are getting both upgrades simultaneously, and that’s commendable.
Well, it’s a good thing that Xiaomi is seeding the Redmi 9 Prime Android 11 with a stable MIUI 12.5 update. But that might be too harsh on the device, given that the Xiaomi Android 11 update has few bugs. Pushing two major OS upgrades at the same time might not be ideal, given the nature of MIUI. Hence, we recommend that you backup your device before attempting to download and install the build.
Meanwhile, the update is still under preview. That means only Mi Pilots members will receive it. They’re to preview the build and if there are no issues, which we think there might be, the update will extend to the public. And going by reports, it will arrive with a version number – MIUI 12.5.1.0 RJCINXM. It brings a stable MIUI based on Android 11 and bumps the Android security patch level to August 2021 to increase system security. Xiaomi has released the much-anticipated Android 12 update for the Redmi 9 Prime in India. The update has a version number MIUI 13.0.1.0 SJCINXM and brings both features of MIUI 13 and Android 12.
