The Redmi K20 becomes the latest Xiaomi phone to start pushing the stable MIUI 12.5 update. That took quite some time, given that even the Redmi 7 and other entry-level phones have bagged the update since. But Xiaomi had to upgrade the device to Android 11, and that delayed the MIUI 12.5 deployment. However, it was only a matter of time before the Redmi K20/ Mi 9T MIUI 12.5 update started seeding. And according to a recent report, the update is now available in China and will soon reach global handsets.
It has taken until now for Xiaomi to release the Redmi K20/ Mi 9 MIUI 12.5 update. The update is seeding in China and will take some weeks before heading global. However, we expect a swift rollout since the MIUI 12.5 deployment is on its final phase as the company looks to focus on the next iteration of MIUI, launching towards the end of the year. Hence, expect the update to arrive on your device soon.
Meanwhile, the Redmi K20/ Mi 9T MIUI 12.5 update is seeding with a version number – MIUI 12.5.1.0 RFJCNXM. It comes in a 931MB package with features of the new MIUI OS. That includes an instant response to gestures, more rendering power, a new device custom model, reduced power consumption, and background memory usage. The update has also revamped the Note App and brings new changes to the notification and control panel. Also, it bumps the Android security patch level to increase system security and stability.
And while the update has addressed some issues, the third-party launcher compatibility issue is persistent. It also revokes all app permission, and hence, you will have to redo them. Aside from that, the update is safe, and we recommend that you download it when prompted.
