MIUI update news

Redmi K20/Mi 9T, Redmi 9, and Redmi Note 8 MIUI 12.5 update will be released soon

The MIUI 12.5 deployment looks to have stalled in the last few days. We were expecting a swift rollout this past few days, given the announcement and release of Enhanced Edition of MIUI 12.5. However, it seems Xiaomi is taking their time to preview this bug to make sure there are no bugs before rolling it out. And considering that the stable release of the Redmi K20 / Mi 9T and Redmi Note 8 MIUI 12.5 update has taken place in China, the global models will soon receive the update.

Redmi K20/Mi 9T, Redmi 9, and Redmi Note 8 MIUI 12.5 update will be released soon

The Chinese models of Xiaomi phones are mostly the first to receive a major update. That hasn’t changed as we saw with the release of MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition. The update started in China before arriving for international models like Mi 11 Ultra, POCO F3, and Mi 11X. We are also experiencing the same for a few Xiaomi phones – Redmi K20 / Mi 9T and Redmi Note 8. The duo has received the stable MIUI 12.5 update in China but is yet to arrive for international models.

The Redmi 9 has received the update in some regions, but the European models have been waiting. We expect the rollout to start this month, at least with Stable Beta testers. Meanwhile, if you’re using the Chinese ROM on your Redmi K20 / Mi 9T or Redmi Note 8, you can check our tracker page for the MIUI 12.5 download links for both devices. However, after upgrading, you won’t be able to use Google Play services as Xiaomi has restricted installation on Chinese ROMs.

That said, you should wait for the global release, especially the Redmi Note 8 MIUI 12.5 update in the coming days. Why there’s has been a delay in rolling out the update is probably because these devices had to upgrade to Android 11 before pushing MIUI 12.5.
