The Redmi K30 4G is the latest Xiaomi phone to start picking MIUI 12.5 update. Xiaomi launched the device in December 2019, and in February 2020, released it globally as POCO X2. Both phones debuted with Android 10 on top of MIUI 11. They have already picked up a stable Android 11 update, which arrived with MIUI 12, and according to reports, the Redmi K30 / POCO X2 MIUI 12.5 update has been released for the Chinese models.
The Redmi K30 is a reworked POCO X2. Both are essentially the same phone, but for different markets. Yesterday, the latter started picking up a new stable update. That’s probably the last MIUI 12 build before it starts pushing the latest MIUI OS. We recommend that your download the update to fortify your device for a seamless transition to MIUI 12.5.
Meanwhile, the Redmi K30 / POCO X2 MIUI 12.5 update is on a limited rollout as usual. It is available for Beta Testers for previews that’ll last for a couple of days. After the beta preview, developers will start pushing the update to the public. It will arrive as MIUI 12.5.1.0 RGHCNXM, along with the features of the new OS. The build also pushed the Android security level to May 2021 to increase system security and stability.
And while the update has supposedly improved system performance, it fails to address the third-party launcher compatibility issues. Also, the ugly square chat bubbles are still there and other minor notification bugs. That said, you’ll continue using the system launcher even after this update, and hopefully, a fix comes in the future.
