Xiaomi promised to fix some of the bugs facing some phones in its stable with MIUI 12.5. They also said to improve the stability of its in-house Android skin – something they’ve neglected for some time now. At least, on paper, the latest MIUI skin brings improvement and optimization. It has reduced power consumption, and with 20 times more rendering power, MIUI is faster, smoother, and lighter. And as expected, the company has just released the Redmi K40 and Redmi Note 9 5G stable MIUI 12.5 update to kick off the second phase of the rollout.

Redmi K40

The stable MIUI 12.5 update for the Redmi K40 and Redmi Note 9 5G brings the features of the new Android skin. It includes Haptic feedback, which has a new dimension to similar actions. With MIUI 12.5, you can manage the privacy of each app behavior separately, and more that you can find here.

Of course, the rollout is a stable beta build. Only a few selected users will receive the update for preview with the public rollout depending on the preview outcome. However, you can download and install the Redmi K40 and Redmi Note 9 5G stable MIUI 12.5 update below and install, but it will require an authorized Mi Beta account. Also, you have to be running the Chinese ROM before you can flash the ROM on your device.

Meanwhile, if you have got a compatible TWRP Recovery installed, you can bypass the server lock and successfully flash the ROM. For the Redmi K40, the update has a build number – MIUI 12.5.2.0 RKHCNXM – while the Redmi Note 9 5G is pushing a stable MIUI 12.5.1.0 RJECNXM. The new update brings the much anticipated Android 11 for the latter, which means the Redmi 9 Power and Redmi Note 9T could be getting a new OS upgrade very soon.
