While attention has been turned to the Enhanced Edition, some Xiaomi phones are just snapping the stable MIUI 12.5 build. In what could be the last major update, the Redmi Note 7 has received the MIUI 12.5 update in India. The device received its last stable update months ago, with the current security patch dating December 2020. That’ll change after installing the latest build, but that could be where the journey ends. Nevertheless, you should check the updater app for the Redmi Note 7 MIUI 12.5 update in India.
Xiaomi announced the Redmi Note 7 in February 2019, meaning it’s eligible for security patch build till February of 2022. That’s going by the company’s update policy that guarantees three years of security support for their phones, which might be gradually changing to four years. However, the Redmi Note 7 hasn’t been getting support for the past few months. And with the Redmi Note 7 MIUI 12.5 update in the India release, it might just be the last time the device will receive a major update.
The latest update is seeding with a version number – MIUI 12.5.1.0 QFGINXM – and weighs 677 MB. As expected, it brings the features of MIUI 12.5. They include instant response to gestures, more rendering power, reduced power and background memory usage, new device custom model, and more. Meanwhile, the update has supposedly disabled animation of some apps in a bid to improve the device performance. Amid the uncertainty with MIUI 13, Xiaomi has released a new stable update to the Redmi Note 7. It’s the global models getting a stable MIUI 12.5.3.0 QFGMIXM that brings the October security.
