The Redmi Note 8 Pro remains today one of Xiaomi’s best mid-range offerings. It was among the best-selling Xiaomi phone in 2020, thanks to the powerful game-centric Helio G90T chipset. The device outside-of-the-box runs Android 9 (Pie) on top of MIUI, although few people had to upgrade from MIUI 10. Having debuted with Android 9, the next iteration of Android OS – Android 10 – was already assured. The update arrived early last year, which was supposed to be the first and last OS upgrade, but Xiaomi decides they’ll do Android 11, also.
The company didn’t communicate their reason to rollout Android 11 to the Redmi Note 8 Pro, but that’s probably the warm reception it got after its release. They’ve already rolled out the update in China to those participating in the closed beta group, but the public rollout has been delayed. Probably, developers are working to fix a few bugs before the update is released, given the time the first closed beta build was released. However, it’s a matter of when Redmi Note 8 Pro Android 11 will start seeding.
According to Xiaomiui, the Redmi Note 8 Pro Android 11 will arrive with MIUI 12.5. The phone will receive both updates simultaneously. Unfortunately, the Telegram channel didn’t say when the update will start seeding. But given the circumstances, we might be in for a long wait. This is because those running Chinese ROM are still waiting for the update. They’ll probably get the update first before it’s extended to other regions. And when the update starts seeding in that region, it will take weeks, sometimes months, if bugs are detected before coming to global regions. Nevertheless, we hope that things will be smooth with the Redmi Note 8 Pro Android 11.
That said, we’ll be keeping tabs on the device and will update this space once we get new information. You can follow our Android 11 tracker page to stay updated with all Xiaomi Android 11 releases.
