There has been a report making rounds on the internet about the possible arrival of Android 10 on the Redmi Note 8 today. It looks certain now that we are not going to see the update, at least not today. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time the update is rumored to start seeding but doesn’t show up.
Back in May, Alvis Tse, the general manager of Xiaomi Indonesia, and head of POCO Global alleged the Redmi Note 8 will receive Android 10 in July. Well, we’re in August, and it doesn’t seem the update will be arriving today either, as rumored.
It’s fascinating how Xiaomi, for whatever reason, has left the Redmi Note 8 still running Android Pie – company’s pre-installed OS, nearly one year after the popular device hit the shelves. The device has been in closed testing of the Android 10 build for months now, but only those enrolled for the testing program can download the update here.
Nonetheless, we expect the general public to start getting the update this month ending or the beginning of next month. We understand that the update will arrive alongside the MIUI 12 update, which has been scheduled to start rolling out this month. And when that happens, the Redmi Note 8 will be the first Xiaomi phone to receive a stable OS with the company’s latest Android skin.
It might interest you to know that the Redmi 8, Redmi 8A, and Redmi Note 8 Pro, have all received Android 10, while the Redmi Note 8 doesn’t even have an ETA yet. However, one thing is certain – the device is eligible for the update, and is only a matter of time before it starts arriving. We’ll be keeping tabs on the device as to notify you once the update is released for eligible users ( those running latest and official MIUI ROM).
