Redmi Note 9 4G has been waiting for both Android 11 and MIUI 12.5 for months now. The latter started seeding a couple of weeks ago but was delayed probably due to a bug. It seems they have been able to resolve the issues, and has started pushing the update again. However, the device is receiving both Android 11 and MIUI 12.5 simultaneously this time. As usual, it’s a stable beta release, meaning only a few selected users will receive the update for preview.
The Redmi Note 9 4G / Redmi 9T MIUI 12.5 update is seeding with a version number – MIUI 12.5.1.0 RJQCNXM. It comes with expected features to improve performance and address a few bugs left by MIUI 12. Some of these features include instant response to gestures, more rendering power, new custom device model adjustments, optimization to make MIUI faster, smoother, and lighter. The build also bumped the Android security patch level to increase system security and stability.
Meanwhile, there are some changes you might notice after upgrading to Android 11. Third-party launcher stops working on gestures, and hence, you will revert to system launcher while the chat bubbles will turn square. Also, there are a few bugs and glitches, but you can perform a factory reset to address them. But before that, back up your data to a safe location so you can restore them after upgrading.
And considering when the Redmi Note 9 4G / Redmi 9T MIUI 12.5 update will start seeding for international models, there’s currently no ETA now. However, given that previous experience, it might take about two weeks for the update to start seeding.
