The stable MIUI 12.5 update for Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G has built-in Basic Google services

Before Xiaomi started rolling out the stable MIUI 12.5 update, the company already announced they’ll disable Google frame services on its Chinese ROM, making it impossible to install the Google app. The closed beta group had already reported the issue with MIUI 12.5 beta build, and of course, that didn’t change with the stable release. Before the recent development, you can easily install the Google Play store and services on your Xiaomi phone running Chinese ROM. Now, only flagship Xiaomi phones can install the Google Play service by enabling Basic Google Services. However, it seems the recent MIUI 12.5 update for Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G comes with Basic Google Services.

Basic Google services

Installing Google Play Store on Xiaomi phones become nearly impossible after MIUI 12.5 update due to restrictions by Xiaomi. The move, according to the company, was due to compliances. Of course, Google is blocked in China, which is probably the reason for disabling Google Framework. But then, Xiaomi phones running Snapdragon 800-series SoC continue to support Gapps by enabling Basic Google Services. And from a recent report, it seems the feature has been added to mid-rangers phones.

According to a post on MiBoys Hub Manilla, shared on MIUI 12 update group on Facebook by Ben Jr Febroa, the hassle that comes with Install GMS on Chinese Xiaomi mid-range phones could be over. The reason is because the stable MIUI 12.5 update that arrived for the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G came with Basic Google services. It means that you can enable the feature in Settings to start using GApps on your Xiaomi phones running Chinese ROM.

Meanwhile, it’s unclear at the time of this writing if other phones have got this feature back or just the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G. However, you can head to Settings >>>Account & Syn >>>Basic Google Services. If you can find that, you should enable it to start using Google play services. Also, turning on the toggle should automatically install the Google Play store on your device, but you can check the source link to download.
