Yesterday, Xiaomi released a list of its phones that have received the MIUI 12.5 development build. A total of 28 Xiaomi phones made it to the list, with the Redmi Note 9 4G missing out because of a major Android upgrade. Xiaomi is still testing the Android 11 build for the device internally and will start pushing the update alongside the MIUI 12.5 once the testing is completed.
Meanwhile, there’s confusion if the Redmi Note 9 Pro/9S will receive the MIUI 12.5 update. And yes, the Redmi Note 9 series will receive the update once it’s ready for the global users. The Redmi Note 9 series includes the Redmi Note 9 Pro, Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, Redmi Note 9S, and Redmi Note 9. They’ll all receive the MIUI 12.5 update and even the MIUI 13 when it starts rolling out.
The reason why Redmi Note 9 series is not missing on the list released yesterday is the fact that none made it to China. As such, it’s not eligible for MIUI 12.5 development version. Only Xiaomi phones sold in China and running the Chinese ROM are eligible for the update, and that’s why the Redmi Note 9 Pro/9S is missing. But not to worry, the Redmi Note 9 Pro/9S will receive the MIUI 12.5 stable update for sure.
