It was widely reported that the Redmi Note 8 will receive a stable MIUI 12 update today globally. That didn’t go as rumored, with few hours left before the day will be over. But as we reported earlier today, we are likely to see the update start arriving in some regions this month, which according to the Russian Mi community forum, seems more likely now.
While the global Mi community forum is yet to update it’s MIUI 12 update tracker, the Russian counterpart has tipped the Redmi Note 8 to receive the update this month. Redmi Note 8T will also receive the update this month, and according to the MIUI 12 update tracker, all the regions are in line to receive the update.
However, we doubt that the Global variant will receive the update this month. The reason being that it hasn’t been long since a new stable update based on MIUI 11 started arriving for the device. It would be hard for Xiaomi to release yet another update for the global version of Redmi Note 8 so soon. But then, we won’t be surprised if the update starts seeding in all regions simultaneously.
Also, the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9S are expected to start receiving the MIUI 12 update this month. Thus far, only the Indian variant and Turkish version of the duo have bagged the update, and we expect a wider rollout, that will see the update appear on phones in other regions this month.
But while we believe that the global models of the Redmi Note 8 will receive MIUI 12 in the coming days, note that the update can still be delayed if developers come across any bug. And even when the update finally starts seeding, it will first get to some selected few, after which the public rollout will commence. The same thing is inevitable for the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9S.
