Xiaomi recently upgraded the global models of the Redmi Note 9 to Android 11 with a stable MIUI 13 update. The rollout is exclusive to Global users, with other regions expected to start getting the update in the coming days. However, that might not be the case as users report SIM cards not recognized issues after the upgrade. Also, there are other issues like battery drain, YouTube issues, and more analyzed on Vol 84 of the MIUI weekly bug report.

SIM cards not recognized

Redmi Note 9 Android 12-based MIUI 13 update started rolling out a couple of days ago. The update is supposed to arrive for more users after two weeks, but with the SIM cards not recognized issue being reported widely, the update is likely to be delayed until the problem is resolved.

According to Xiaomi, the issue is down to an Android version upgrade, and the company is working on it. They didn’t say when a fix will be available, but we expect the next update for the device to address the issue.

Meanwhile, there have been reports of battery drain when using the Xiaomi Mi 11X. Affected build – V13.0.7.0.SKHINXM -seems to be exclusive to Indians, meaning other regions aren’t affected. Again, there is no fix at the moment, as Xiaomi is still working on it.

Also, some devices are experiencing “can’t play video on YouTube” bugs. It seems to affect Redmi Note 10S, Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G, Xiaomi 11i 5G, and Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge. The problem seems to be down to YouTube and has been reported to Google. And while we wait for official confirmation, you should update your YouTube app to see if the issue is resolved.

How to fix SIM cards not recognized

Since it started after a cross-section Android upgrade, a factory reset might resolve it. Hence, we recommended backing up your data and resetting the device to see if that works. However, you can wait for an official fix, which will probably arrive in the coming days.
