Xiaomi is yet to release a stable MIUI 12.5 update for the Redmi Note 8 as Android 11 remains in China

Like the Redmi Note 8 Pro, the vanilla Note 8 will also receive the Android 11 update. There’s no doubt about that as the company has already updated the units in China. As always, global users have to wait, but that wait has been extended now. Naturally, it takes two weeks after the Chinese rollout for an OTA to arrive globally but can be delayed because of bugs. It seems that the issue with Redmi Note 8 Android 11 as a source confirms Xiaomi is getting a second MIUI 12 based Android 11 build ready for the Chinese users.

stable MIUI 12.5 update for the Redmi Note 8

It’s unclear if the Redmi Note 8 will receive MIUI 12.5 and Android 11 simultaneously, but that’s unlikely, given that the update already arrived with MIUI 12 in China. According to Xiaomiui, there is currently no stable MIUI 12.5 update for the Redmi Note 8. Only the beta group has received the MIUI 12.5 update, while Xiaomi prepares a new stable update based on MIUI 12 for the Chinese ROM users. The build will arrive with a version number – MIUI 12.0.2.0 RCOCNXM – and will probably start seeding soon.

That’s to say that rumors of a stable MIUI 12.5 update for the Redmi Note 8 being released were a joke. It was an April Fool prank. However, with a new build being prepared for the Chinese users, it won’t be long before global users start getting Android 11. There’s currently no information about MIUI 12.5 yet as only Chinese users are receiving the update. But with the speed of deployment, coupled with the fact that developers are not working with the list, we might be surprised just like the Mi 9 SE users.
