How Xiaomi has abandoned it’s the first-ever phone to support the 5G connectivity is fascinating. The device, since hitting the shelves, hasn’t received any form of support. It has been alleged that in October, the device will receive a stable MIUI 12 build based on Android 9, but we don’t see that happening.
It’s not the first time an update was alleged to arrive for the device, and end up not being released. Besides, why would the company decides to skip MIUI 11 and jump to MIUI 12, there should be a procedure. Again, the device has similar development with the Mi Mix 3, which is currently receiving a stable MIUI 12 update, having received the MIUI 11 last year. We believe Xiaomi intentionally abandoned the Mix 3 5G, probably because it didn’t sell out.
Meanwhile, the stable MIUI 12 update for Mi Mix 3 has been seen arriving for the units in China. It’s coming in an 824MB sized package and with a version number, MIUI 12.0.1.0 QEECNXM.
Arriving with the update is an update Android security patch for July, improved system security, bug fixes, and system optimization. Also, all the features of MIUI 12, which include Super Wallpaper, Dark Mode, New System Animation, Revamped System UI, Enhanced Privacy, Floating Windows, New camera Functions, and Unify Font.

The stable MIUI 12 update for Mi Mix 3 is still arriving for the device in China and will start appearing on Global units any moment from now. And while waiting, you can head over to System Updates and perform a manual scan to see if the update has arrived on your device. If not, you can follow the source link and download the update. But note that is a Chinese ROM, and as such, it won’t work on Global units.
