Under-display camera technology coming to Xiaomi phones
Xiaomi vice president, Wang Xiang, took to his Twitter handle to reveal that Xiaomi is working on replacing the teardrop selfie camera with under-display camera solution. According to him “ the display camera solution could be the ultimate solution for a full display coexisting with a front camera.”
On such displays, special low-reflective glass with high transmittance is what’ll be used. When not in selfie mode, the transparent display works just fine, under-display camera solution when activated, the display over the camera lens becomes transplant to allow light to enter, therefore resulting to perfect selfies.
Meanwhile, is not the first time we’re seeing the said tech on the internet. Oppo was first to speak about it, even before Xiaomi Vice President tweeted it. But then, the prototype is what we’ve seen and until the tech makes it to a smartphone, maybe then, we can actually argue on who debuted it first.
There’s no doubt this will be an interesting camera feature for smartphone users, but how long before they can enjoy. Remember we’re yet to see Xiaomi 100W Quick Charge, that was tweeted just like the under-screen camera solution. Nevertheless, we might probably see all these features in the coming Mi Mix 4, but we can only wait.
