After nearly a year without getting the form of support interns of an update, Xiaomi, towards the tail of last year, rolled out a security patch build to the Redmi Note 5/Pro. Few weeks after the update arrived for the device, the company started the Redmi Note 5/Pro MIUI 12 rollout. And because the duo is the same phone as Redmi 5 Plus, we thought the device would also receive the update. However, it has been months, and from every indication, it doesn’t look like the Redmi 5 MIUI 12 update will be happening.
The Redmi 5 Plus debuted in China in December 2017 and later made its way globally, where it answered Redmi Note 5. Hence, the duo has the same development, and that’s why we have been optimistic about the former receiving the MIUI 12 update. However, we don’t see the Redmi 5 Plus MIUI 12 update happening now since the Redmi Note 5/Pro is yet to restart.
Few weeks after Redmi Note 5/Pro MIUI 12 update began arriving for everyone, Xiaomi, via its forum, announced it pulled the update back. The update is said to be causing a boot loop, and as such, it was rolled back. However, none of the device users even till now reported facing issues, but since it came from official Xiaomi, we have to accept that to be true. And because of that, it’s impossible to install the update manually. We hope Xiaomi will restart the rollout very soon, but that should be after the Chinese New year festival, which seems to have slowed things down.
For the Redmi 5 Plus MIUI 12 update, we doubt the update will arrive. Perhaps, the number of active device users isn’t enough for the company to start developing a new build for the device. Also, it’s been over 12 months since the device last received an update, so it’s a doubt — Redmi 5 Plus MIUI 12 update.
