The Xiaomi Mix lineup is where the Chinese OEM shows its innovative prowess. For years now, the company has been itching for a true full view display device. They came close with the Mi Mix 3, but the slider makes the phone bulgy. And while the Mi Mix Alpha came close, the device was more like a concept phone and didn’t make it to mass production. With the Xiaomi Mix 4, the company has finally hidden the selfie camera under the display. It’s the first for any Xiaomi phone, so it’s not that impressive, but decent.

Xiaomi Mix 4 specs
The Mix 4 has a full-screen panel slightly curved on the edges. It has a selfie camera hidden under the display and an optical fingerprint scanner, and that’s about the front panel. At the back, there’s a rectangular camera island. It houses the triple sensors and the LED Flash. Below the camera bumps is the Xiaomi branding. The “Mi” is no longer there, and that’s how it will be moving forward. You get the volume rocker and power button at the right frame, while the USB-C port and speaker grill sits on the bottom.

Xiaomi made use of a flexible panel for the Mix 4 display. That’s due to the under-display camera. It’s a 6.67-AMOLED panel with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel supports HDR10+, and with over 1B shades of colors, it will deliver the best details. Also, it can reach 800 nits of brightness. The display also has Dolby Vision and uses Gorilla Glass Victus for protection.
Xiaomi Mix 4 Performance
Behind the power, performance is Snapdragon 888+ Octa-Core processor. It has a single prime core clocked at 2.99GHz, coupled with up to 12GB of RAM, it will deliver peak performance. Also, there has been some cooling to make sure the device isn’t heating up. The Adreno 660 GPU takes care of graphics rendering. Outside of the house, Mix 4 runs Android 11 on top of MIUI 12.5.

Xiaomi has equipped the Mix 4 with triple rear camera sensors. The primary 108MP shooter comes with Dual Pixel PDAF and Laser AF, and OIS. It can shoot 8K videos @24fps. The second sensor is an 8MP periscope telephoto with OIS and 5x optical zoom. For Ultra-wide Angle, Mix 4 uses a 13MP shooter, which unsurprisingly didn’t feature OIS. The front camera is a single 20MP shooter hidden under the display for decent selfie shots.
Xiaomi Mix 4 battery and security
Xiaomi equipped the device with a 120W wired charging expected to refill the device in 15 minutes. It also supports a 50W wireless charging that tops up at 28 minutes. Meanwhile, the battery is a 4500mAh capacity, which is a tad small considering the power-hungry features. As for security, there’s an optical under-display fingerprint scanner. You can pair that with other security and privacy options.
Xiaomi Mix 4 Price and Availability
Xiaomi Mix 4 Price starts at $771 for the base 8/128GB variant. The 256GB memory sets you back $817, while the more 12GB / 256GB version goes for $849. There’s a 512GB internal storage option with 12GB of RAM that starts at $971. Unfortunately, Xiaomi didn’t release the device in the global market, and hence, you will order from China.
