Xiaomi has been swiftly rolling out the Android 11 update but had to slow down recently to test MIUI 12.5. The company began rolling out Android 11 about seven months ago, but many eligible phones are still waiting for the update even after all this while. The current Android OS is believed to have a high adoption rate but requires many resources for adoption, according to Xiaomi. That seems to be true given the bugs introduced by the update, which haven’t been fixed yet. And now, it’s been reported that Redmi Note 8 Pro, Mi 9 Pro 5G, Mi CC9, and Mi CC9 Meitu Edition have problems adapting to Android 11.
Surprisingly, the Mi CC9 and Mi CC9 Meitu have already received the MIUI 12.5 update, which came with stable Android 11. As for the Mi 9 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 8 Pro, the duo is yet to start receiving their first public build of either Android 11 or MIUI 12.5. However, the update has been pushed to closed beta groups, and from their feedback, the device works just fine running Android 11.
Nevertheless, from the statement released by Xiaomi, the aforementioned devices, “currently do not meet the company’s full internal OTA upgrade quality standards.” That is quite strange as two out of the four models have adapted Android 11 already. However, given the circumstances, we don’t expect subsequent Android 11 builds for these phones until the issue of adoption is resolved. Of course, the Engineering team is working on resolving the issue. According to them, “the highest priority, I hope that everyone can experience the latest system as soon as possible, and I hope everyone will understand.”
Unfortunately, there’s no time frame as to when the company will resolve the issue (problems adapting to Android 11). However, keep an eye on our tracker page to know when Android 11 becomes available for your device.
