The RAM Extension Function started deployment months ago in China. It was the Mi 10 Ultra that received the function initially, and we expected a wider rollout. The function has now arrived on both premium and mid-range phones in China. At first, we believed it would arrive for global stable ROM users with MIUI 13, but that seems not to be the case. Going by recent reports, the Xiaomi RAM Extension Function is now available on Redmi 10 and POCO F3.
Some days ago, the POCO F3 and Mi 11X started pushing the stable Enhanced Edition of MIUI 12.5. The update is yet to start seeding for the public, but that will probably be delayed. Reason being that some users are experiencing random reboots after upgrading their devices. Unfortunately, POCO is yet to identify the root cause of the issue. However, you can get some insight into the problem from this link.
Nevertheless, the update brought an interesting feature to the POCO F3 users. Of course, that means the Mi 11X got the feature since both devices have the same development. Only that one is for global (POCO F3), and the other (Mi 11X) is for Indian. The Enhanced version of MIUI 12.5 has enabled the RAM Extension Function on both phones. Interestingly, the Redmi 10 now supports RAM Extension Function after the recent update.
The supposed version that brought Redmi 10 RAM Extension Function is the current stable MIUI 12.5.4.0 RKUMIXM build. That means the Indian models – Redmi 10 Prime also supports the function. Hence, you get additional virtual RAM of up to 3GB when playing a demanding game on your device. However, that can only work if the feature is enabled under settings.
It’s unclear when other Xiaomi phones will receive the function globally, but it seems the company is slowly rolling it out. We expect almost all Xiaomi phones to get the function, except for those that have elapsed their support period.
