There was never a doubt concerning the stable MIUI 12 update for Xiaomi Mi 8. The device, which launched in earlier 2018 with Android 8.1 Oreo on top MIUI 9.5 was always going to receive the MIUI 12. It was only a matter of when, since the official roadmap released by Xiaomi didn’t include a time frame as to when the second phase of the deployment, under which the Mi 8 fell under, will commence.
Meanwhile, the second phase has since been initiated with Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 7, and Redmi Note 7 Pro already receiving stable MIUI 12 globally and in China. Currently joining the long list of Xiaomi phones that have bagged the MIUI 12 update, is the company’s 2018 flagship – Mi 8.
The update is hitting the Chinese version for the time being, and is arriving with a build number, ”MIUI 12.0.1.0 QEACNXM“. It weighs in at 853MB and comes with all the features of MIUI 12, which include Super wallpapers, Dark Mode 2.0, Always-on-display, New camera Functions, Floating Windows, among others.
As for when other regions will start receiving stable MIUI 12 update for Xiaomi Mi 8, that depends on the feedback from early adopters. However, it usually takes two weeks after the Chinese rollout for the update to start appearing on Global units. We expect the time frame to remain the same, but there’s a download link below this post if you don’t have enough time.
