It’s been weeks since a leak suggested an affordable Xiaomi phone with a 108MP camera. The phone in question is codenamed Gauguin and will debut with a premium variant Gauguin Pro. Nearly two months after it was first rumored, the device is now on the news again, and according to Digital Chat Station, the launch is very close.
Some weeks ago, Xiaomi, through its official Twitter handle, confirmed an upcoming sub-€300 phone this month. Going by the information on the tweet, the device will run a “brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon 700-series SoC with 5G support”, supposedly Snapdragon 768. Leaks have it that the device will feature either a 64MP or 108MP module, with the former more convincing considering the price tag.
The mysterious phone will be announced this month, and we have only got ten days left, to be exact. But unfortunately, not much about this device has been revealed, but we hope to get more information in the coming days. However, we believe the Xiaomi phone with a 108MP camera could be the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite.
Recall that last year, Xiaomi introduced the Mi CC series in partnership with Meitu, which focuses on camera-centric smartphones. Thus far, only the Mi CC9, CC9 Pro, and CC9E have been released under the series, of which the company later introduced the Mi CC9 as Mi 9 Lite globally. We might as well see Xiaomi go down that route again with the Ganguin and Gauguin Pro phones.
It’s also possible this Xiaomi phone with a 108MP camera ends up as the Redmi Note 10 Pro, which has also been rumored. But luckily, we won’t have to wait much longer before Xiaomi finally reveals this mysterious device. However, we’ll still update this space if we get additional information just before the official unveiling.
