It’s been weeks since Google officially released the stable Android 11 update. A good number of OEMs have started rolling out the update, and thus far, most premium phones of the year have bagged the update. For Xiaomi, they have released the update to the Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, and Redmi K30 Pro, while plans to upgrade other phones are ongoing.
Yesterday, the first Android 11 update, which arrived with MIUI 12 closed beta, was released for the Redmi K30/POCO X2. The same update is now available for the Redmi K20. It’s coming with the latest China closed beta MIUI 12.20.10.20, which aside from the Android 11 build, is arriving with lots of other features and improvement.
Unfortunately, Only those on the Chinese branch of MIUI and also participating in the closed beta testing will receive the update via OTA. However, there’s a way to side-load the ROM on your Redmi K20/Mi 9T, but that if you have got TWRP Recovery installed.
Note: as Redmi K20/Mi 9T first Android 11 update, and also under closed beta testing, it’s a beta ROM. Of course, it has some bugs and you will experience lags during operation with the phone. That’s why only those that can live with few bugs and also know how to resurrection a dead phone are recommended to flash this build.
But then, there’s always a way to divert back to stable ROM if that doesn’t work out. You can head over to this link and download the appropriate Fastboot ROM for your device and flash.
