It has been a couple of months since Google announced the Coolwalk feature for Android Auto users. One would expect the function to be widely available by now, but only a few users have received it. However, it seems Google is rolling out the Coolwalk feature in batches as people continue to have it enabled months after the initial release.
Google, a couple of weeks ago, released a video of the Coolwalk feature on its YouTube channel, hinting at the public release of the function. Since then, it has only appeared on select phones, mostly beta users. With the Android Auto 8.7 stable, we anticipated a wide availability, but that’s not the case.
It’s fair to say that the Android Auto 8.7 stable didn’t have the Coolwalk redesign, perhaps, it only enabled it for a few users. According to a survey on r/AndroidAuto, only 376, of which 263 are in beta test, have received the redesign. Over 2,200 are yet to get the function enabled on the phone, meaning the rollout is slow.
However, we have seen people get the Coolwalk redesign after updating their Android Auto app, and you can do the same via the Google Play store. Also, you might force it by clearing the app cache on your device or you wait for the next update.
