Apple iOS 14.7.1 supports background restoration of iCloud backup and addresses Touch ID issue on Apple Watch

With the unveiling of the iPhone 13 series, Apple is expected to announce iOS 15: the company’s next iteration of iOS. However, the company is still addressing some issues affecting the system before ushering in a new one. That’s what the Apple iOS 14.7.1 that launched officially at the tail of July brought to iPhone and Apple Watch users.

The update, according to reports, has addressed a major vulnerability that allows apps to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. What this means is that these apps can run any command on your device, expose your device to threat, and might steal your data. However, with the recent update, Apple has supposedly addressed that issue.

Also, the update brought a hidden feature. Before now, you’re stuck on the iCloud UI when restoring your backup until it’s done before you can use your phone. Luckily, after upgrading to Apple iOS 14.7.1, the iCloud backup restoration can run in the background after activating your phone.

The update addresses another issue that prevents Touch ID from unlocking Apple Watch. If you’re facing such an issue, you should check after installing the Apple iOS 14.7.1. Aside from the bug fixes, the update has increased system performance and addressed other security vulnerabilities.

Meanwhile, Apple will be bringing new features to its Apple iOS next week with the unveiling of iOS 15. The company has an event scheduled for September 15TH. That will see the release of the iPhone 13 series, and hopefully, iOS 15 will be announced. The Apple iOS 15 is a major system update, and hence, will bring a series of features. It should include improvements to FaceTime, Focus mode, maps, Safari Browser, Spotlight, privacy, enhanced security, and more.
