A recent report shows Xiaomi has complied first MIUI 12 build for the Mi Mix 3 5G

Moving back to May 2019, when Xiaomi released the Mi Mix 3 5G, those who bought the device would never imagine that they’d beg for an update. Even the monthly security patch, which the company rolls out almost every day, hardly arrives for this device. And the height of it all, the device still runs MIUI 10 based on Android 10 – the pre-installed operating system.

Imagine spending over 500 bucks on a phone that doesn’t receive any form of support. It made the users start asking questions, and luckily, some publications started advocating for an update to be released for the Mi Mix 3 5G. It seems the company had to make a U-turn after it had already dismissed releasing an update for the device.

A couple of months ago, the company, through its UK customer support, pledged to release a security patch update in July. Also, in October, they’ll release the MIUI 12 build for the Mi Mix 3 5G. Well, we thought that was a failed promise as the update didn’t arrive in July, only for the company to start rolling out a security patch, a couple of days ago.

That, actually, made users start anticipating for the MIUI 12 update, and going by the recent report, the first MIUI 12 build for the Mi Mix 3 5G is said to have been compiled. Thus far, only developers have access to the ROM, which is believed to be undergoing internal testing. The update, however, won’t upgrade the OS, it’ll be based on Android 9 still.

And if that’s true, then we expect the update to start arriving publicly in October. According to a report by notebookcheck, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G will receive the MIUI 12 update before the end of October. However, we have seen a situation where nothing is released even after promises are made. The Redmi Note 8 was promised Android 10 last month, but that update hasn’t been released.

Nevertheless, we believe things will be different this time and that by October, this device will start receiving the MIUI 12 update. We’ll be keeping tabs on the device to update you when the update starts seeding.
